Tydbyte is a character created by Richard Ward and his friend Sam Gerson.

The place we started talking about Tydbyte was initially Privateers Wharf Warehouse Restaurant at Historic Properties in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

The time was in the early ’80s.

The name Tydbyte is derived from the word tidbit meaning “a small but interesting piece of news”.

We saw Tydbyte as a being who lived in the aether, computers and telecommunications network who travelled around helping people to understand the world they lived in.

Tydbyte had his first venture into the world of media when Richard’s friend Sandy Bernard invited Tydbyte to host a radio show in Halifax during the evening drive time to talk about computers and telecommunications.

Since then Tydbyte has been travelling around, visiting here and there, but he hasn’t been publicly active until now. It will be interesting to see how things evolve.
